In this, they were right to send me to Sacred Touch. In every way I have been treated professionally, as these are medical treatments I receive because the VA doesn't have space for additional patients in their Physical Medicine department, and every staff member takes my level of pain and muscle tension seriously (due to injuries and a career that spanned Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, and Kuwait).
For example, from the first day of treatment I've been on a treatment plan that includes very intense and deep muscle massage therapy for my back, neck, and shoulders to increase my mobility and decrease my dependence on injections of steroids and oral pain medications. In this they've been very successful and I am grateful for the VA taking a chance on what isn't considered a traditional therapy, and for Sacred Touch in being such a honest and reputable place that I never have any concerns being there as I would some other location.
Full disclosure first: I'm a retired Army Major and was directed to this business by the Ann Arbor VA Hospital (they pay for the service). My directive / request to the VA was that under no circumstances would I be sent to a "massage parlor" that would put my integrity in question.

Bottom line: If you work hard and need someone who is trained to do the kind of work that only a person who can crush rocks with their hands can provide (or be gentle, although that's not what I get out of the place), then Sacred Touch can make cutting firewood, swinging a sledgehammer, or any other real work less painful.
